True Nightmares

I felt the fear today,
The fear that came
From a false reality.
I felt the heavy burden
Of ridicule.
Alas, it was all a dream,
But so real a dream,
A dream so real.

Amazement drowned my reason
When I felt such love
To be concerned
With another's pain
That I imagined in
My sleep.

How I wish we were
Awake
In the same peace
That comes with sleep.
True nightmares
Involve absurdities, hate, harshness
And it all blends with reality.
Surreal unlocks horror.

Did I need a dream
to know we have our flaws?
I would rather snore
Through the Apocalypse
Than wake up
Filled with
Chaos.
